Everything has to come out. Not pushed to one side, not stacked in a corner — out.
That includes vehicles, tool chests, shelving units, bikes, lawn equipment, storage bins, and the refrigerator that lives in every Michigan garage. Anything bolted to the floor needs to be unbolted and removed.
Wall-mounted items can generally stay, though anything hanging low enough to interfere with grinding equipment should come down.

How to Prepare a Garage for Grinding
Surface preparation creates dust, and modern equipment captures most of it with vacuum systems. Most is not all.

Crews need working power, so confirm that garage outlets function and breakers are on. Clear a path from the driveway to the door for equipment. If the driveway is shared or parking is tight, sort that out ahead of time.
Pets should be somewhere else for the day. Grinding equipment is loud, and an open garage door is an escape route.

Avoid dragging heavy items across the new floor when moving everything back in. Lift, or use furniture sliders. Put mats under jack stands and workbench legs where weight concentrates on a small footprint.
Regular sweeping matters more than anything else long-term, since grit is what abrades a topcoat over time.
